The Distortion Syndrome.
Perpepuating a degree of importance removed from consideration to the reality of what is actually important.
From the beginning of man a battle has raged on for attention to two very different explanations of who we ,the human race, are.
Two very divergent theorys.
One based in science.
One endorsed in theology.
Both trying to "in a nutshell" explain what happened.
While many would say that this is the point where the waters become very murky.
I think ,whether it suits your theology or not, the actual reality is a reasonably clear cut case.
Evolution of everything after a cataclysmic exspolsion that is possibly ongoing and infinite in exsistence.
Thats the case backed by science.
Say what you will about science, but it does have quite the habbit of being true whether you believe in it or not.
Science is the side of the actual reality.
For at least a majority of the years man has existed, the distortion syndrome of theology has been the basis of promotion of what is percieved as important.
The stark reality of science has been rebuffed by theologians of all creeds and colours to promote the idea of creationism.
Creationism by worship to whatever "insert religion here" is being subscribed to has indocrinated a world to whom science is the other side of the story.
Acceptance of theological interpretations as the facts of exsistence led to adeptation to a percieved reality, while we continued to exsist in an actual reality.
A theory that had to live governed by laws, quite often, at odds with the stark scientific realities of actually exsisting.
The difference between the actual reality, the science, and the purported reality, the theological teachings, marks the beginning of the distortion syndrome.
The factors that are routinley reported to be the important things that should be the centre of everybody's focus, simply aren't, in the context of actual reality, the things that are actually important.
The prevalence of the distortion syndrome being converted to belief against actual reality, has probablly become the most enduring legacy of mankinds failure of humanity with respect to the world it actually lives in.
I don't think there is no evidence of theology having had positive effects on large sections of humanity.
Ignorance to actual scientific occurance is, however, in no way a mitigating factor to the effects of what has actually happened.
